weight and fuel flow

Post by tomcat rio »

. took about 1500 pounds of people out fishing today on my 28 TE. definitely noticeable effect on fuel consumption. according to the flow scan gauge, that weight was at least an additional 1.5 gph at 2800 rpm and 15 kts.
time to call weight watchers.

Guess it depends on how many guests you had...

5 = :shock:

7 = :?

10 = :)

I'm a bit surprised by the size of the fuel difference but guess I can see it. Add in drinks, gear, fuel - she's carrying a lot of extra weight.

That doesn't surprise me. That's a lot of people on a 28' boat.

I am kind of surprised that you were able to get up to 15 knots with all that additional weight!
Speaks well for the strength/torque of your engine.
