Stainless Boca Shade Installed

Post by Jkraft »

On my 28 I I installed a aluminum boca shade that mounted to the handrails and loved it. It was high on my priority list on the 31 as well. I decided to go with the stainless version on the 31 and mounted it directly to the hard top. This is one of the widest units that they have made to date and works like a charm.

7’ shade and on the 31 it comes all the way to the end of the transom at the outward side of the fish boxes. You can have it half out or full out. At 8’ wide, the backing plates fit perfectly under the overhang of the hardtop on the outside of the pilothouse windows. It took 3 of us a few hours to assemble and install.

I’m waiting on a couple of parts to install my outboard bracket. Once that is drilled out, I’ll pull the shade and outboard bracket back off, over drill the holes and epoxy the holes shut and re-drill so that water can never get in the core. I’m getting close to being complete those two projects
