Shaft seal question

Post by Luvinlife »

I purchased a 2002 Albin 32+2 last fall. The previous owner did not replace the shaft seal for nine years. The boat has very low hours on it under 800. Can someone tell me what type of shaft seal this is and if it’s imperative that I change it? It is currently not leaking

That is a tides marine seal - seals should be done around 600 hours.

I am just replacing my seal since i've had to remove the shaft and dont want to risk any damage to them on reinstallation.

They supply a very heavy seal - i've looked at other options but none are as thick as the ones supplied by tidesmarine and they know how to charge for them!

Thank you I had another reply that also said it was a Tides sure Seal. My boat has 750 hours on it.

When you do replace it put a spare on as well. The always fail at a inconvenient time.
