raw water in turbo prevention?

Post by fisherofman »

I am planning to haul and trailer my new to me 04 28 TE, Yanmar 6LPA-STP engine.
I have been reading about drain or not to drain raw water?
Is there actually a risk of sea water sloshing back into the turbo while traveling down the road?
If so what is the best way to drain. Will the raw pump be left dry and is that bad? I am having all the coolers removed and cleaned, new timing belt, fresh water pump, and valves adjusted prior transport. Any more suggestions? How about raw water pump/impeller, mixing elbow?
Thanks.

I would tip the bow up in the Travelift until water runs out the exhaust. And then I'd keep the boat level at a minimum, preferably bow up. Don't let it go into a bow down position unless you're certain the exhaust system is empty.

ok Thanks. How do I drain the exhaust system? Will disconnecting the raw water hose at the transmission cooler drain the exhaust system?
