Albin 33 Height

Post by lmustico »

I am looking to ship my 1978 Albin 33 double cabin trawler and was wondering if anyone might have access to any old Albin literature that might have the actual height of the vessel listed. The boat is in the water right now and kind of hard to get a measurement.
Thanks,

Larry

My boat was damaged when it was being shipped by truck. The driver went under a bridge he wasn't supposed to go under. Ripped the bridge off, came off nice and clean.

All I had to do was find most of the pieces and glass them back together.

It happens, make sure you stow things accordingly.

I cannot help you with the height but I can give you some advice. When dealing with these truckers ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. I learned that they will tell you one thing and then the problems begin when they get there with the add ons. You have to find someone you feel comfortable with. Send me a private e-mail and I will give you the name of the one I settled on. Even if you do not use them they will send you all the info on preparation for transport that others gloss over. You are correct that height is your number one problem. If that boat is over a certain height the price goes up astronomically because of special permits, restricted routes and travel times plus escort vehicles, whereas if you get it below a certain level it is an easy one truck hit the road thing. One possible way to get the height is by shopping Yachtworld for the same model boat. They will usually give you the draft and sometimes the air draft. The total is your height to the top of the highest fixed point but will usually not include biminis, antennaes and such all of which can be removed for clearance. Good luck.
