This time we better be attending :D
Count me, my wife Anne and our little daughter Marissa attending barring engine mishap or family conflict.

Hey south shore long island forum members, maybe we should have an armada to Essex!

Sounds like a plan - This way we can all run aground together in Moriches and then play bumper boats through the rips at Shinnecock canal

Glad to hear you are going to make it. EIM is a great place for the little one - floating docks, numerous bathrooms and other comforts. Plus it's a much more sheltered run than going to Block.

I will NOT attend. I have a MTOA rendezvous the week prior and 2 in the summer are more than I can afford quite honestly, in BOTH $$ and time.
However I "may" stop by via car on my way to Mystic on friday evening to say hello if the situation permits at the time (I drive right past Essex every week).

When I was a kid we used to go on cruises with a bunch of people from my neighborhood. One year we had over 10 boats on a big trip that involved far north as Boston. Essex was alway a destination because of the kid friendly nature of the marina. Haven't been there in a while, so this should bring some fond memories of years gone by. I especially remember the game room and candy shop and the ferry. :)

We might make more of trip of this than just Essex. Maybe Block Island or something on LI - Greenport or West Hampton on the way back or going there. (It's a pretty long trip from Amityville in one shot for the little one). We'll see since there is a little bit of time for planning. If anyone is interested in other ports coinciding with the rendezvous, it might add salt and pepper to the trip!

Oh yeah, about moriches should be interesting to say the least with the shoaling. The canal is always a fun "drill" Bumperboats - yikes!

We plan to as well, probably make a week of it with other port(s). Not sure if before or after EIM and where yet.

With the cost of fuel, economy, etc., I did not need reservations last year anywhere we went and we sure hit our share of ports. Only place that was a problem was Watch Hill at Fire Island - I know you can attest to that, I remember watching you pull in.......and then pull out :(

Rob,
A thought for the Essex rendezvous - Boatpix (BOATPIX.com) will provide coverage for special events. A year ago while leaving the river from Essex they were doing aerial photos of all the boats at the mouth. I ordered ,and have a great shot of the Joint Venture.
They may even do a group shot of the flotilla at the Marina. Maybe the new owner of Albin would be interested?

Hey John!

Did you ever get those pics out of your camera from last year's rendezvous in Boston? I've got some great shots of Joint Venture underway that I will trade for same of Time After Time!

I like that idea.. I have been through the sandbars at Moriches twice and managed without mishap. I know they have moved but we have Rob (that is his backyard) to show us the way :D

Ric Murray,
No I haven't taken the pictures out of the camera - and even if I do I don't know how to post them. I will be at my daughter's for Christmas and if there is time she may be able to e-mail them. If not I'll see you at Essex
